Why two roller blinds can look nothing alike.

A roller blind is fabric wound on a tube. That description covers both the cheapest window covering sold in Australia and a genuinely good one, and the difference lives entirely in components you cannot see from across the room. Tube gauge is the first. • Light-filter: Diffuses daylight to a soft, even wash and gives daytime privacy without making the room dark. Good in a study or a bathroom. • Sunscreen: An open weave rated by openness factor, typically 1 to 5 percent. Lower numbers mean more privacy and less view, higher numbers the reverse. Roll the blind fully up occasionally rather than leaving it three-quarters down for months, since a permanent fold line eventually sets in any fabric.
